| Valley Community Clinic: Vision & Mission Statement |
The vision of the Valley Community Clinic is high quality healthcare for all.
The mission of the Valley Community Clinic is to enhance the well-being of the community by providing high quality, culturally sensitive primary medical care and related healthcare services to those in need, regardless of their ability to pay.
We achieve our mission by providing a full array of services that includes primary and some specialty care, dental, optometry, pediatrics, women's health, counseling and health education with an emphasis on prevention. |
| The Clinic helps ensure our Local Emergency Rooms are available for Real Emergencies: |
VCC's provision of preventative and chronic care services to the low-income community helps keep almost 15,000 uninsured patients out of our local emergency rooms. The more patients we can see, the fewer men, women and children end up in emergency rooms for non-critical illnesses and situations.
Valley Community Clinic is a vital, integral component of the real and economic health of the San Fernando Valley. |
| VCC Saves both Tax Payer Dollars and Employer Costs: |
Due to its efficiency and community support, a doctor visit to Valley Community Clinic costs only 65% of the provision of comparable services elsewhere. The Valley's business sector comprises primarily small businesses, many of which are unable to provide employee healthcare benefits. Valley Community Clinic provides preventative primary care to thousands of uninsured workers and their families every year, keeping our workforce healthy, keeping business productivity up and workplace illnesses down.
With the Clinics provision of preventive care, far less time is lost from work lost time that can cost employers millions of dollars.
| We Provide Fundamentally Essential Services: |
Chronic Disease Management Cancer Screenings Health Education/Nutrition/Exercise Healthcare for the entire family Dental Optometry Counseling
| How Are We Funded? |
Valley Community Clinic became a Federally Qualified Health Care facility in 2005, and is funded by a mix of County, State, and Federal funds, private grants, and donations from the community. In addition, VCC receives more than $1 million in donated goods and services every year. The Clinic is also a Medi-Cal provider of choice. Non Medi-Cal patients pay on a sliding scale if they do not qualify for a funded program, or if the program has been cut due to lack of financing.

| Background |
Since 1970, Valley Community Clinic, a private, non-profit 501 (c)(3) agency, has been the "family doctor" for the hard working, uninsured people of the San Fernando Valley. Founded in 1970 as a counseling center, the Clinic soon expanded to include a full range of free and low-cost, high quality, medical and health services. Ninety-five percent of our patients are working, but most have incomes below state poverty guidelines. No one is ever turned away due to an inability to pay. The ethnic mix of our patients matches the ethnicity of our local community where the population is over 60% Latino. Our goal is to ensure that everyone in need has access to healthcare and information, thus empowering the low-income community and enhancing its health and productivity. |
