Valley Teen Clinic provides low/no cost reproductive healthcare services to teens from the ages of 12-19. The Clinic is unique in that teen patients are served by teen staff, creating an atmosphere which is comfortable, supportive and non-judgmental. All of the staff have been through an extensive training to ensure accurate information is given in a non-judgmental manner. Teen patients have noted that having a peer educate them is less threatening and allows them to ask questions more freely. Clinicians are also chosen for their sensitivity and enthusiasm for working with adolescents.

Services:

• Peer education on anatomy/physiology, birth control methods (what they are and how they work), sexually transmitted diseases and HIV/AIDS.
• First time and annual reproductive healthcare check-ups.
• Testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.
• Birth control supplies
• Pregnancy testing.
• Free and anonymous HIV testing.
• Free individual mental health counseling.
• Testing and treatment of STDs.

Valley Teen Clinic is committed to involving adolescent males in family planning education and services. Through special outreach, adolescent males receive off-site, one-on-one reproductive health education. Adolescent males receive the same individual attention and health education, off-site, which female patients receive during their Clinic visits.

The Teen Clinic has a dedicated toll-free number to answer teen questions on the topics listed above. Teens calling this line can also receive information and referrals to the Clinic or other youth organizations. The toll-free number is staffed by the same teens who work in the Teen Clinic. Teens are encouraged to use this number to schedule appointments.

The Teen Clinic has health educators who provide free presentations, on related topics, including reproductive anatomy and physiology, birth control methods, STDs, and HIV/AIDS. The Clinic’s health educators work extensively with local high schools, youth shelters, continuation schools, group homes, and pregnant and parenting teens.
